LESS IS MORE!
THYRON LAUNCHES CONTACTLESS-ONLY PAYMENT TERMINAL
Thyron Systems Limited - a leading provider of payment solutions has launched a revolutionary handheld contactless-only portable payment terminal, the Contactless Payment Terminal (CPT). Contactless Cards are being enthusiastically embraced as a global new payment offering. As a means of payment, the contactless card provides a fast, secure and convenient alternative to low value cash purchases for the cardholder, ensuring reduced queues, quicker transaction times and faster throughput for the merchant. The CPT is designed for use in both countertop and portable environments. The terminal is ideal for accepting credit card payments under the Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass initiatives which are currently being introduced in the UK as part of the planned global roadmap. The CPT is ideally placed as an upgrade mechanism to the existing market segments that have adopted EMV Chip and Pin. The cost effectiveness of the CPT will also attract new sectors that have not traditionally accepted card payments – particularly those where speed and convenience are essential. Additionally a version of the CPT has been designed for use in the Vending Industry, thus allowing Vending Machine Operators to accept contactless card transactions as an alternative to cash payments.

April 2007 - Combined Insurance |
|
|
Combined Insurance, Ireland have successfully concluded a trial of Thyron mobile Chip and PIN payment terminals with a number of Combined's regional sales agents. The terminals enabled customer's of Combined to pay insurance premiums at the door step using a debit or credit card thereby eliminating the requirement to pay by cash or cheque. Tom Hayes, Regional Manager, Combined Insurance commented, "The agents have been able to sell additional policies which would not have been the case if the agents didn't have the facility to accept card transactions. In addition, the devices will reduce the amount of cash the agents handle as more and more business is accepted by card." With the trial successfully concluded, Combined will evaluate the roll-out of terminals across their network of field sales agents.
