The mobility sector covers a range of business activities. Thyron's Chip and PIN mobility solutions are designed to provide an ideal platform for mobile merchants who have a requirement to accept payments remotely, away from traditional landline communications.
The MPT500 utilises the GSM/GPRS wireless network to securely connect to the banking system, thus obtaining card authorisation without the need to connect to a telephone or network point.
GPRS provides an always-on connection that can gain authorisation in as little as 4-5 seconds. Not only does this allow the mobile trader to ensure that he can take card authorisations remotely, the speed of transaction is also useful for queue busting operations at temporary, busy periods typically in outdoor events. Other value added options include the ability to view transactions online with a daily transaction summary report, and the provision of a range of GSM/GPRS network options.
The MPT500 terminal has an optional bluetooth interface which, when installed, permits simple integration to other hand-held computing devices such as PDAs and other mobile computing systems.
As an alternative to GSM/GPRS, Thyron can offer merchants the MPT505 terminal which utilises Vodafone's PakNet radio network. This solution is particularly suitable for merchants who are already subscribers to the PakNet network, or merchants who are having difficulty connecting to the GPRS network due to insufficient signal.
