MPT500 Contactless GPRS Terminal

The new fully integrated Thyron MPT500 Contactless GPRS achieved “first in world” Visa Accreditation. Based on the MPT500 GPRS and only differentiated by the flared display the MPT500c GPRS can take keyed, swiped, Chip and PIN, as well as Contactless Transactions. The MPT500c GPRS fits perfectly in any retail, mobile, queue busting, or the transportation industry where predominately low value, high turnover goods are sold.

As with the MPT500 Contactless GPRS the new fully integrated Thyron MPT500 Contactless WiFi Terminal provides the same solution in the larger retail and hospitality industries. MPT600 GPRS Terminal

The long awaited big brother of the MPT500 Series is the MPT600 Series. Thyron MPT600 GPRS Terminal has all the features of the MPT500 but with improvements in both technology and aesthetics and with a very stable Blue Tooth and ITSO option. The MPT600 GPRS wins hands down in regards to its looks and ease of use. We have invested heavily into ensuring the customer experience of this terminal matches its look and feel without compromising on quality. ITSO – (Integrated Transport Smartcard Organisation)

Thyron Systems are finalising a software integration to allow the Thyron MPT range of products the ability to support the ITSO functionality in the Transport Industry.

ITSO was founded in 1998 as a result of discussions between various UK Passenger Transport Authorities concerning the lack of suitable standards for inter-operable smartcard ticketing. These discussions grew to include other authorities, transport operators and Government.

The primary use of smartcards in transport has been for the recording of concessionary passenger use and authentication. The largest commercial based scheme is Transport for London, who is marketing their smartcards as Oyster. Currently, Oyster is not compatible with the ITSO specification. However, as Transport for London is planning to help to fund Oyster readers for all London rail stations in London zones 1-6, they are working with the Department for Transport to ensure these will be also compatible with the ITSO specification.

Thyron Systems have been working with a number of UK and European Partners by providing a hardware and software solution to allow ticket issuing or printing. The final stage now is for the Thyron range of products to include ticket issuing software as well as credit card validation and payment.
